Musée d'histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg
corporate identity, 2009
History, with a capital H, of the City of Luxembourg (permanent displays) and history in the making in the current context, with a specific "storyline" approach (temporary displays), are at the heart of the corporate identity of the Musée d'histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.
a I part started with the central theme of the "thread of history" to create a simple and expressive graphic constructive system with a minimum of graphic elements. The 3 modules of construction are: 1) an infinite band (symbolizing the thread of history), 2) a typography (Lola), 3), the signs < and > in the guise of a paragraph, as well as the possibility of cutting, pasting, assembling and dissembling the band or proportionally enlarging it.
These construction elements enable the building of a strong visual identity presented as a "typographic band". It is handled in the same way as the thread of history is constructed: through incisions, montages, developments, underlinings ; etc. In addition to the thread of history, the "typographic band" evokes the phylactery of a medieval painting, a text selected by computer, an editing or mixing desk or Ariadne's thread, and opens up a large panoply of derived products and educational activites.
